Administrative Specialist II – Parks and Nature
Position Title: Administrative Specialist II, Limited Duration – Parks and Nature
Deadline to apply: June 5, 2018 @ 5:00 pm, PDT
Salary: $18.76 - $25.15 hourly
If you love providing customer service, organizing details and keeping projects on track, you might be the perfect candidate for our Parks and Nature Administrative Specialist position. This is a limited duration available through June 30, 2019. The schedule is Monday through Friday, typically 8 to 5 p.m.
This position will serve two important functions: supporting Parks and Nature staff with a variety of projects and serving as the main point of contact for the Parks and Nature phone line and email. The Parks and Nature department manages 17,000 acres of voter-protected land across greater Portland, with a focus on protecting clean water, restoring fish and wildlife habitat, and connecting people with nature close to home.
To do this job, you should enjoy collaborating with staff while working independently. You'll be tracking a variety of information and ensuring various deadlines are met. Because you'll be answering our department's main phone line, the ability to speak additional languages is preferred, although not required.
To keep things running in Parks and Nature, organization and computer skills are important, too. You would report directly to the administrative supervisor for Metro's Parks and Nature department. We're looking for somebody who shares Metro's commitment to making sure that all our region's diverse communities – including communities of color and low-income communities – benefit from a world-class park system. At Metro, we hire a workforce representative of the communities we serve, understanding that a diverse workforce strengthens our organization. We value diversity and support a positive and welcoming environment where all of our employees can thrive.
Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D and two years of general office and specialized customer service and problem solving experience; or any combination of education and experience that would provide the applicant with the desired knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the job.
