Arts Integration Specialist Positions
The Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC) is seeking new team members (0.5 FTE & 0.8 FTE) with successful teaching experience in K-8 classrooms. A strong background in schools with a focus on equity, arts integration, literacy, student engagement and creating collaborative cultures in schools is essential. These positions support the work of The Right Brain Initiative in the Portland metro area, working collaboratively with principals, classroom teachers, and district instructional coaches to support K-8 school-based teacher teams in implementing whole school arts integration.
Position #1 Status: 0.5 FTE (Flexible schedule, 20 hours per week, 46 weeks, August through mid-June), Exempt
Position #2 Status: 0.8 FTE (Flexible schedule, 32 hours per week, 46 weeks, August through mid-June), Exempt
Supervisor: The Right Brain Initiative Program Manager
Compensation: $25-$30 per hour, DOE, plus benefits
Benefits: Medical insurance (0.75-1.0 FTE only), dental insurance, long-term disability and life insurance, paid holidays, paid time off, and 401(k) retirement plan.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Work in partnership with teacher leadership teams to support a schoolwide implementation plan for arts integration that increases student engagement, equity and success in the classroom
• Provide support, modeling and guidance to teachers and district-level instructional coaches on arts integration and culturally-relevant practices
• Assist schools in building interactive classrooms and a school environment focused on the content and learning strategies embedded in Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts (ELA), the National Core Arts Standards and culturally-relevant pedagogy
• Provide formal and informal staff development/training for classroom teachers and administrators around instructional strategies, student engagement and peer leadership, related to both research and practice
• Work with schools to identify and support annual artist residencies that promote arts integrated teaching and learning.
• Investigate and disseminate information on best practices for arts integration, national sources of information on trends, research and applications related to arts in schools
• Support RACC’s research and evaluation on the impact of arts education and arts integration
• Work collaboratively with RACC’s arts education team to support the organization’s vision and create a cohesive and respectful working environment
Required Knowledge, Skills and Qualities:
• Ability to support professional development, especially in the areas of equity, arts integration, literacy, student engagement and collaborative school cultures
• Experience in using arts integration to engage students in the classroom
• Demonstrated ability to collaboratively plan with excellent interpersonal skills
• An understanding of educational trends related to equity and a commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment and equitable school communities
• Minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience in K-8 classrooms with a focus on ELA and literacy, master’s degree preferred
• An understanding of education standards across K-8 grades
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of audiences
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Qualities:
• Experience in aligning subject areas with an emphasis on the arts
• Ability to travel throughout the Portland metropolitan area
• Knowledge of, experience or training in an arts discipline
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Google applications
• Bilingual abilities in particular Chinese, Russian, Somali, Spanish, or Vietnamese

About the Regional Arts & Culture Council
RACC advocates for public and private investments in the arts, provides grants for artists and arts organizations, manages public art, raises money through workplace giving, conducts arts education in public schools, and provides community services, including workshops for artists, organizational consulting, and a variety of printed and electronic resources.
