Position Title: Hazardous Waste Technician - temporary

Salary: $18.53 hourly
This is a part-time temporary position with variable work hours, not to exceed 1040 hours in a 12 month period. Work locations include various locations off-site at hazardous waste collection events (Round Ups), Metro Central Station (6161 NW 61st Ave., Portland) and Metro South Station (2001 Washington St., Oregon City).
We need help protecting the things we love about this place that we call home. While not required of this position, it also helps to have knowledge of how hazardous waste impacts the environment.

This job offers opportunities to participate in the handling of incoming hazardous waste loads at Metro's Hazardous Waste Facilities and collection sites, including receiving, identifying, sorting and packaging of hazardous wastes from households and small businesses.

This position reports to the Hazardous Waste Facility Supervisor. Lead direction is received from a Hazardous Waste Specialist.

High school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience which would provide the candidate with the desired knowledge, skill and ability required to perform the job. Specialized training or experience in a field related to hazardous waste management is preferred, but not required. Requires the ability to work weekends.
Some proficiency in a second language (Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, Vietnamese) is preferred.
